Welcome back to Football Daily.

It’s incredibly rare for a manager to totally change the way they view football, and it almost never happens at the very top of the game. However, a number of top coaches have changed and adapted their styles over the years, to varying degrees of success.

Let’s take a look at 5 of the best in our latest video...

Several managers named here didn't really change their philosophy. Changing formations doesn't necessarily equate to changing the philosophical principles they play by... they adapt based on personnel within the squad and various strengths. That's what managers do... they find ways to win, often times tweaking instead of outright changing. Interesting content still

I think Everyone of those managers are influenced by each other,In PSG,Laurent Blanc used a system which Tuchel and emery replicated in their tenures and got continued success. But the Laurent Blanc's system itself was influenced by pep.

@IA7 chelsea board sack him cuz of chelsea player that having internal scuffle with him behind the scenes costa , willian etc they want the manager to leave idk what is going behind the scene but its pretty much not good , so to not suffer more team cohesion and dressing room the board decided to sack him because of a player . doesn’t that feels ironic? these days its all about the manager when the lost they are at fault but when they win the player are the one who did it . i mean if the player doesn’t want to work with the manager just fking leave and be a professional no need to argument and talk to others player to make scheme playing bad for the manager to sack

I see you aren't very informed when it comes to football. In chelsea 14/15 his philosophy was possesion based and winning the ball back quickly with high press and a high block. He said that in an interview, they won the league. Real scored 121 goals in a season with him, more than peps barca. So don't speak if you don't know anything about the matter.

You’re confusing philosophy with tactics. Tuchel’s philosophy has remained relatively the same (e.g., jdp principles combined with gegenpressing), just as Guardiola’s has despite variations in his formations at his respective clubs.

You sir are very right. However I think Tuchel is really gegenpressing a lot more with Chelsea, while using a 3 center back formation to build up, which is... unusual

Loved this video keep up the good work lads Now 3 at the back becoming more popular among top teams like Chelsea, Atletico, Juve,Barca(from the last month),inter, bvb, Leipzig,Lazio,Roma and real madrid in their match against Atalanta . Please do a video about why teams using 3 at the back (I think it gives more stability in defense)

@Rishi from watching inter tho, I’d say 2 midfielders is risky, because with 3 attackers u could be lacking in the midfield, when control of the midfield in possession is very important
Marco Verratti
Marco Verratti 2 maanden geleden
@Rishi yeah I think they can. United would probably be better suited with that honestly. But they do counter just fine tho anyways

I started seeing 3 defenders the day AS Roma beat Barcelona 4-0 in stadio olimpicio. That's where I knew it's deadly as helll
Rishi
Rishi 3 maanden geleden
@Marco Verratti I think Man utd can easily implement that formation. They have shaw who can play at LCB also they they have Telles at LB also they have two most creative Midfielders in Pogba and Bruno and the fastest front three in Europe containing Rashford,Martial,James,Greenwood whom we know are very lethal in counter attack.
Marco Verratti
Marco Verratti 3 maanden geleden
It is becoming popular and I noticed it expanded outside of italy (where practically every team uses it) I believe it’s because in the past, it had connotations of being a defensive, or “boring” formation, when actually it can be quite the opposite. For example inter have scored 65 goals in 27 games, and the reason being is that the solid back 3 really hold down the defense, while everyone else attacks/counters. When effective, it can be one of the best formations lol. So basically, when on the attack, u have 7 players, while ur center backs shut down a potential counter. And when defending, u have 8 behind the ball, with an extra center back… But when there’s no creativity, spaces can be scarce and that’s when u get a boring, dead play style. So really it’s essential u have the players for it, but if you do, the formation is very versatile and can be used in various play styles

I like to think our philosophy is 'get the defence right and the rest will follow'. You can kind of see this reflected in Mason Mount's playing style when compared to his english midfield peers.

@Anish R I never disagreed that Chelsea don't have a club philosophy, I know that. My point was against the original commenter who thinks if a manager comes and plays a system for 3 years it becomes club philosophy.
Anish R
Anish R 3 maanden geleden
@Rishabh Agarwal Club philosophy is not important at all honestly one manager wanting play a different style can change the club philosophy what matter is the amount of time it takes for the manager to implement his philosophy and usually they can't do that in the time Chelsea gives them
